Paste settings

When you create a paste on AnonPaste, the settings control how long it remains available, how people open it, and what readers can do. Some combinations are unavailable when they would conflict with the paste’s privacy mode.

Expiry

• Fixed expiry — Choose how long the paste stays available.
• Never expire — Keep the paste until you delete it manually.

Burn-after-view and expiry can be combined; a burned paste is removed after the first successful view regardless of the expiry date.

Visibility

• Private — Anyone with the share link can open it.
• Password — Readers enter the password you chose.
• Encrypted — Readers use the complete Secret link or a password.

Encryption and editing

Encrypted and secret-link modes are designed for content that AnonPaste cannot read. Features that need readable content—such as interactive responses, Tier Lists, and some previews—are unavailable in those modes.

Encrypted pastes cannot be edited after creation. Create a new paste when the content needs to change.

New encrypted web pastes use versioned AES-256-GCM envelopes with a fresh random IV for every encrypted text value or file. The complete first-party web encryption format documents what is encrypted, which fields remain visible for service operation, Secret-link and password key handling, recovery limits, and legacy compatibility.

Private or unlisted visibility alone is not encryption. Anyone who obtains an ordinary private link may be able to open it. A recipient who can decrypt content can still copy, save, or photograph it.

URL-only pastes

For short text, the creator may offer a URL-only option. The complete content is carried in the link rather than kept as a normal paste.

• Keep the full link intact when copying it.
• Anyone with the full link can open the content unless you add a password.
• Losing the link means losing the content.
• AnonPaste cannot recover, edit, or remove a URL-only paste.
• Features that depend on a saved paste, including expiry, burn after view, files, comments, analytics, and interactive blocks, are unavailable.

Burn after view

Enable Burn after view to delete the paste after its first successful opening. Do not open the share link yourself to test it, because your visit may use the one permitted view.

Comments

You can allow or disable comments on a paste. Private or sensitive pastes often work better with comments turned off.

Tags and content warnings

• Add tags where the creator offers them.
• Add a content warning when readers should confirm before continuing.
• Use age verification where the content or local rules require it.

Downloads

You can disable the normal download action on file pastes. This discourages casual downloading, but it cannot prevent someone from saving content that their device can already display.

Individual blocks

Text and file blocks can have their own presentation and access settings. For example, you can make a block use a card layout or require a separate password before a reader opens it.

Custom URL

Eligible signed-in users can choose a custom URL when the name is available.

Viewer details

Depending on the paste, you can choose whether readers see the:

• view bar and view count
• likes and dislikes
• author and creation date
• sharing and save actions

Statistics

Open Advanced, then choose None, Basic, or Full statistics when your plan offers them. See Paste analytics.

Advertising

Free and anonymous creators can choose whether advertising is allowed on each paste. Paid users browse AnonPaste without ads.

After creation

• Copy the share link for readers.
• Save the manage link if you are not logged in—you need it to edit or delete later.
• If you are logged in, you can choose to show the paste on your profile.
